DLStudy, operated by Recherche Solutions LLC, helps you prepare for your driver license knowledge exam. This policy applies to all DLStudy websites, including driverlicenseexams.us and driverslicenseexams.com, and explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
We collect only what we need to run the service. We do not sell your personal information.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address and the first and last name you provide when you create an account.
- Anonymous sessions: if you try DLStudy without an account, we generate a random session identifier and a basic device fingerprint to keep your progress on this device and prevent abuse of free limits.
- Study activity: the questions you practice, your answers, scores, topic mastery, and the questions you ask about the handbook. This powers your personalized coaching and dashboard.
- Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we only keep your subscription status and plan.
- Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) used for security and to keep the service running.
How we use your information
- To run adaptive practice: track your weak spots and pick the right questions for you.
- To save your progress across sessions and devices when you have an account.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions through Stripe.
- To answer handbook questions: your question text is sent to an AI provider to generate an answer grounded in the official handbook.
- To send essential account email, such as verification codes and password resets. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
- To prevent fraud and abuse of free-tier limits.
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your language and state selection, and store anonymous session progress. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Services we rely on
We share data only with the providers needed to operate DLStudy, and only the minimum required:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting for your account and study data.
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
- Cloudflare — website hosting and content delivery.
- AI providers — process the text of handbook questions you submit in order to generate answers. Your questions are not used to identify you.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account and study data while your account is active. If you want your account and associated data deleted, email us and we will remove it. Anonymous session data may be cleared at any time and is not linked to your identity.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including California under the CCPA and the EU/UK under the GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Security
Your data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with access controls. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. No system is perfectly secure, but we follow industry-standard practices to protect your information.
Children's privacy
DLStudy is intended for people preparing for a driver license exam. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app.
